Get Started with Your Ledger Wallet

Welcome to Ledger! If you're here, you're probably ready to take control of your crypto safely. That’s great! At Ledger.com/start, we’ll guide you through everything you need to know to set up your Ledger device and start using it.

Whether you have a Ledger Nano S Plus or a Ledger Nano X, this page is your first step to securing your crypto the right way.

What Is a Ledger Wallet?

A Ledger wallet is a small device that helps you keep your crypto safe. It’s called a hardware wallet, and it stores your private keys offline. That means your keys are not exposed to the internet — this makes it much harder for hackers to steal your crypto.

With Ledger, you get two things:

  1. A secure device (your hardware wallet).
  2. The Ledger Live app, where you can manage your crypto easily.

Why Start at Ledger.com/start?

This page gives you the official instructions to set up your device the right way. There are fake websites out there, so always start here to stay safe.

Step 4: Set Up Your Device

Now it’s time to turn on your Ledger wallet. Connect it to your computer using the USB cable.

You’ll be guided through:

  1. Creating a PIN code – Choose 4 to 8 digits.
  2. Writing down your recovery phrase – You’ll get 24 words.

This part is very important.

What is a recovery phrase?

It’s like a secret key that unlocks your crypto. If you lose your device, you can use these 24 words to get your crypto back.

Never share your recovery phrase with anyone. Never type it into a computer or phone. Write it down on the recovery sheet and store it safely offline.

Step 5: Verify and Secure

After you’ve written down your 24 words, the device will ask you to confirm a few of them. This is to make sure you wrote them correctly.

Then, your Ledger device is ready to use.

Step 6: Open Ledger Live and Add Accounts

Now go back to Ledger Live on your computer or phone. You can:

Each time you send or receive crypto, you’ll confirm the transaction on your Ledger device.
